J’exprime correctement un regret (regret)
Pour exprimer un regret, j’utilise les structures suivantes :
- Subject + regret + gerund or ing-form
- Subject + regret + noun or noun group or pronoun
- Subject + should (not) + have + past participle
- Subject + ought (not) to + have + past participle
- Subject + wish + subject + had (not) + past participle
- If only + subject + had (not) + past participle
Example: I regret buying this phone. It’s not sophisticated.
He wishes he hadn’t missed the meeting.
We should have called the police earlier.
J’exprime correctement un souhait (wish)
Pour exprimer un souhait, j’utilise les structures suivantes :
- Subject + wish + object
- Subject + wish + subject + Preterit or past simple
- Subject + wish + subject + would (not) + base form
- If only + subject + Preterit
- It’s (high) time + Subject + Preterit
- It’s (high) time + for + object + infinitive
Example: I wish you a happy new year.
I wish he wouldn’t talk so loudly.
It’s high time she got married. She is 35 now.
It’s time for the kids to come back home.
